Finished Vest

After working on my knitted vest for weeks, it is finally complete. It took longer for me to block it and sew on the button than to actually knit it. Sometimes I'm funny like that.

 I made a small change from the pattern. I wanted a longer vest so I knitted to 13 inches before the armholes to get the vest to sit at my hips.

Love how it turned out. I am proud of myself for getting this one right as it is my first time knitting a garment for myself :)

Seriously? More Yarn?

Yup... picked up some more yarn. This is the first time I ordered from a catalog and it worked out great. Willow Yarns has an online store, but since I had the catalog in front of me I decided to try ordering it through the mail. It took longer to get my order (since I had to post the order and then wait to get it) but I didn't mind waiting because I wasn't in a rush to get it.

Finished another pair of socks from Knitted Socks East and West. These were an extremely quick knit. I was able to whip these up in 5 days, and they look great!

Diaper Cover

I made a diaper cover to match the bunny hats that I made. I don't know if it will fit my nephew, I might have to make a bigger size for him.

I used the free Adjustable Diaper Cover pattern, but modified it very slightly by only using one colour for the whole thing and adding a pompom on the bum for the bunny tail.

This is a very simple pattern even for me. I don't crochet much and this is by far the most complicated pattern I have done. It was quick to make and the result is super cute.

Sock Yarn Patchwork Afghan Progess

I have been able to add a few more squares to my sock yarn patchwork afghan since I have been knitting so many socks lately. 

Looking back at my last post about this project I see that I have made more progress than I thought: I took out one of the squares (it was made with a weird furry yarn I really just could not stand looking at), weaved in all the ends (that took forever) and added 11 squares. This is a project that will take me years to complete, as I will not be using the same yarn for more than one square. That means that I will have to knit a LOT of socks to finish this... I better get started.

Kimono Socks

 My pretty Kimono socks are finished and I cannot wait to wear them. The pattern turned out to be absolutely stunning and I love them. I don't know why it has taken my so long to go back to the pattern book Knitted Socks East and West, but now that I have looked through it again, I don't think I will be through with socks any time soon (see also previous post on this matter).

The pattern looks way more complex than it actually is. It was perfect for keeping me interested and allowing me to watch TV at the same time. 

The yarn is fabulous and will keep me nice and warm through these last few weeks of winter.

 These were a joy to knit and if you haven't bought this book yet, you need to!

More sock yarn...

I went on a sock yarn shopping spree last week. I couldn't help myself after looking through all the patterns in Knitted Socks East and West. Even though I have had this book for a while, I hadn't looked through it for ages. So when I opened it again, I found myself wanting to knit almost every single pattern in the book; and to do that I needed more sock yarn.

Stretch Socks

 I have finally finished the pair of socks I have been working on for the boyfriend. I have been knitting them since January and I have quite enjoyed making them.

 

Stretch:

Yarn: Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball in Cafe Flair for this pair.

Needles: US 2 (2.75mm)

This pattern is a simple 2-round repeat, so it is very easily memorized. This was the perfect portable project, and that is why it took me so long to finish it: I only knit it when I was out and about. This project went with me everywhere. They went to Toronto on the train a few times, a trip to day surgery at the hospital, multiple doctor's offices, my lunch break at work, and lots more.

 

I love everything about these socks: from the pattern to the yarn they are just fantastic!

Baby photo props

My sister-in-law has started taking baby photos from her home and wanted a few props to add to her pictures. Here is what I have so far:
